Links External to the AllIncontext Web Site
Web page links which are
external to any AllIncontext web site have a url which starts
with
http:// and excludes the text containing:
allincontext.co; or
validator.w3c.org; or
jigsaw.w3.org
(the last two are just to avoid showing the W3C image links at the bottom of each web page with
an external image to their right).
We make use of this in order to use a cascading style sheet (css) element to display the
following image after the normal link:
Older web browsers that cannot implement this element will just display the link.
Each of these external links will have an anchor tag containing
a specific
title attribute. This will cause a
tooltip to be displayed
in all browsers, and it
tells you that you can press the
Shift key and then
click on the link to open that web page in a
new browser window,
or press the
Ctrl key and
click on the link to open a
new tab (if your browser supports them).
Just clicking the link will navigate the current browser window to the new web page as normal.
Note: Please be aware that any external link might compromise the security of your PC, so ensure that your
anti-virus software is up to date. Even a web page that is safe one day might become unsafe the next, either
because it has been updated incorrectly or it has been hacked.
